Display Modification History version 2.6
If you are using a trial version, you can use the download link you got with an e-mail, to download the latest version again. Check regularly for updates of Licence Protector. You will find your current version number in the menu bar, ? About Licence Protector. The software update can be directly started in the menu bar, ?, Software Service. Note: Updates can only be applied if your update subscription has not expired. You find your subscription status in the menu bar, ? License Viewer . The module Online Update must not be expired. The Update program uses not today's date to make the comparison but the inbuilt release program. Example
Although today the Online Update eligibility has expired, it was not expired at the release date. The update can be applied. This ensures that you can install an update at any time you like.
Subscription Expired If your subscription has expired but you bought a subscription, check your order confirmation e-mail. You got a separate Activation Key for the update subscription. Apply this key in your currently installed Licence Protector version. If you cannot find your order confirmation e-mail, contact cs@cleverbridge.com. |

Update Procedure for Licence Protector - Version 2.6
| • | Download the update from the website - click here - and install it on a new folder - e.g. ..\Licence Protector\2.6 |
| • | Copy your old license file from version 2.5 (with valid update subscription) to the new folder |
| • | Start the License Generator - the file is automatically converted |
| • | Install the Automatic License Generator. Copy now the new, converted license file to the folder, where you installed the Automatic License Generator |
| • | The Activation Server was updated to support the new installation codes. The version number is 2.5.2. Read the update.txt which comes with the update file. Copy the new, converted license file to the folder ..\alg on the Activation Server |
Update Procedure for Activation Server - Version 3.0
The latest Activation Server can be used with older Licence Protector versions. Detail update instructions.
Backward compatibility
License File and Activation Keys
| • | The LicprotectorEasyGo264.DLL can read all Activation Keys from older versions and all license files from older versions. |
If a license file is opened, it is automatically converted into the latest file format for version 2.6 and it can not be opened again with and older DLL.
| • | A version 2.5.x DLL can read an Activation Key, which was made with License Generator version 2.6 |
| • | A version 2.5.x DLL cannot open a license file, which was made with License Generator version 2.6 |
Activation Server
| • | The Activation Server 3.0 can accept activation requests from older DLL versions |
| • | The Activation Server 2.4.x and 2.5.1 can accept activation requests from 2.6 but the new features (e.g. installation codes) from this version are not supported |
If you use the Hosting Server, then the files are automatically updated. Never install the update manually.
Automatic License Generator
As the Automatic License Generator creates license files and Activation Keys, see restrictions above regarding format of the file and key.
New DLL Commands in Version 2.6
| • | All commands regarding to data storage - see chapter: Store data in licence file |
| • | New Licence Viewer |
| • | Command to remove all licenses / items - RemoveAllItems |
| • | Decrease a counter - ValidateAndDecrease - which allows to limit the number of program starts |
Starting with version 2.6, you can just download the latest Licence Protector version and copy your license file to the new directory as long as you have a valid update subscription. If your update subscription has expired, you can still install older updates using the download option, described in the chapter above.
Necessary Source Code changes
As existing DLL commands have not been changed, only a few steps are necessary to use the new DLL
| • | Add the DLL and change the ProgID, CLASSID, IID or LIBID |
| • | Correct your CRC check of the DLL - new CRC values. This step is only necessary if you implemented a CRC check of the DLL |
