Licence Protector Multimedia Edition supports 3 different types of licence:
| • | Licence per User |
| • | Licence per PC (only option in Standard version) |
| • | Licence per Concurrent User |
Licence per User (Person)
The Windows User name is licenced. Each user, starting the Multimedia Player, will need a licence. The windows user name is written into the licence file.
This type of licence requires more licences like licence per PC. If 2 users would share 1 PC this would result in a 2 user licence but only in 1 PC licence.
Licence per PC
This is often the default licence type. Each PC, starting the Multimedia Player, will need a licence. The PC name is written into the licence file. This type results in less licences then Licence per User (e.g. if 2 users share 1 PC then 2 licences per user are needed but only 1 PC licence).
If the application runs on a Citrix / Terminal server, then the hostname of the local PC and not the hostname of the server is used.
Licence per Concurrent User
This is a typical licence in a huge multi user environment. The Multimedia Player can be installed on an unlimited number of machines but the number of concurrent (simultaneous) users are counted and limited to the specified number. The licence is assigned only as long as the Multimedia Player is running. If the Multimedia Player is terminated, the licence is available again. If a user logs in with the same user name on 2 different PCs then 2 licences are used.
Licence Protector Multimedia Edition offers a sophisticated verification of concurrent user licences. Machines that hang or crashed are detected and the licence is released. This is all done automatically through the Multimedia Player.
The network licence and licence per User as well as Concurrent User is available only in the Licence Protector Multimedia Edition Premium version.
All licence types work also in a Terminal Server and Citrix Environment. The licence information can be displayed within the Licence Viewer.
