The update requires a running instance of Activation Server 4.0 as it only includes updated files.
The exact update version is: 4.0.2.12
Only install this update if you have version 4.0 installed

Make a backup of all folders (typically inetpub\wwwroot\ActivationServer4). You can restore the existing version at any time by copying these files back.
The installation package is a ZIP file, which just has to be unzipped to the installation folder
•Close all Browser Windows
•Download the installation package
•Unzip the files to the installation folder (typically inetpub\wwwroot\ActivationServer4)
•Restart the server
Log out and check the release number in the login screen. It must be 4.1.0

•Login again
•You have to activate your license with your Serial Number of version 4. The Serial Number was sent out with the update of version 4 last year or if you bought the product later, you find the Serial Number in the order delivery e-mail. If you cannot find your Serial Number contact support@mirage-systems.de.
•Select Administration / Setup, Company Information
•Activate the license - details
If you use the E-mail Activator Service you also have to update this service.
•Download the installation package
•
Stop the E-Mail Activator Service
•Open the Control Panel , click on the Administrative Tools icon, click on Services •Search for E-Mail Activator •Right-click the service, and then click Stop

•Copy the files to the installation folder (..Program Files (x86)\Activation Server 3.1) and replace the existing files
•Restart the E-Mail Activator Service
